Fitting a race suit can feel very daunting. Here are a few tips and tricks we have learnt along the way.

  1. Race suits are very delicate. Be patient and take your time. It is very easy to rip due to the fabric. Start by turning over all the sticky grippers and slowly roll up your legs/body. Do not use finger nails or pull up in big motions.
  2. Consider what type of race suit is best for you and your level of swimming. We stock a range of race suits from compression to starter ranges. Remember it is your technique that makes you stand out in a race rather than your race suit.
  3. All brands are different. Speedo is wider on thighs and hips. Generally you would expect your size to be at least 2 sizes below your training costume. Other brands such as Arena we tend to advise start 1 size below your training costume.
  4. Race suits should be tight. Check for any gaps and wrinkles in the fabric. If there are, it is too big and will not provide the performance you are looking for. If in doubt check with your coach before committing.
  5. Remember to keep all tags in place. Refunds and exchanges cannot be given if tags have been removed or the suit has been worn (unless there is a visible fault which is checked by the brand).
  6. If in doubt, just give us a call, email, come a see us at business address (appointment only) or chat to us at a gala. We are more than happy to help fit your race suit for you!
